The Aviva Community Fund voting ended last week and we got a tremendous amount of support with 803 votes in total. However, we did not meet our target of 1000. Today we have been advised that we were unsuccessful in our application and that we are not in the final round of judging.
We would like to thank all those people who voted for us and who continue to support us. As you know we are a registered charity and, without a sponsor, rely on donations, grants and income from engagements to survive.
2017 has been a very difficult year for various reasons with rehearsals at our base being severely restricted for a large part of the year. This should all be finished now so we expect that in 2018 rehearsals will be back to normal and we can confidently build up a busy giglist for next year.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.
The Aviva Community Fund voting ended Midday yesterday. We got a tremendous amount of support with 803 votes in total. However, we did not meet our target of 1000 so we will have to wait and see what the judges think and see if we get any funding for our project. Results should be announced on 28th November. Fingers crossed everyone.
The voting in the Aviva Community Fund applications ends Midday Tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone who has voted for us and encouraged their friends to vote also. We are currently up to 783 votes which is amazing but slightly short of our 1000 votes target. If you haven’t voted yet please do.

If you haven’t voted yet then follow this link, register and vote for us. If we get to 1000 votes we are more likely to receive the funding. This would cover the cost of 2 free public performances in parks in London followed by free workshops where you can try your hand at playing.

We had a new piece of music composed for our 30th Anniversary Concert. It was named appropriately ‘Caribbean Pearl’ and was composed and arranged by Robert Thompson of Trinidad. You can listen to a recording from the concert on 21st October at our base at Henry Cavendish School in Balham.
The Melodians UK have applied to the Aviva Community Fund for some money to enable the Melodians to carry out two free performances in parks in London in 2018, each followed by a free workshop.
The voting opened on Tuesday 24th October. If you haven’t already please vote for us by following this link:
