Melodians Year 2022

The Melodians 2022 year started off quietly but quickly became extremely busy with multiple events taking place in London. The Melodians were able to have their 2021 Christmas Concert in December 2021 which was a great relief after being unable to have a Christmas Concert in December 2020 due to various situations related to Covid.

Then 2022 continued and proved to be a very busy year where the Melodians were relieved to be able to go out and play at many public events. Covid restrictions were generally removed and many public events took place as people were all very keen to get back to all the regular events

Sadly, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth became unwell during the year and died in September. As a result of her illness Prince Charles and Camilla attended more public events and the Melodians met them at The Oval Cricket Ground where the Melodians had an engagement in June.

The full list of Melodians events in the 2021/2022 year is as follows:

Fortunately, the Melodians started the year financially sound due to the generous donations from all their charitable supporters received in 2021.
• Arts Council England
• The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust
• Foyle Foundation
• Elimu Bursary Programme

These donations enabled the Melodians to maintain their instruments, continue with rehearsals at Henry Cavendish and learn new pieces of music. They were able to finish the year still in a financially stable situation.

They were also surprised to be approached by D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust during the year and offered a special donation to celebrate their 50th Year. They offered a £10,000 donation for a suitable project. The Melodians were happy to accept the offer and are developing an interesting project for a performance in September 2023.
