In the past the Melodians were sponsored by BT (British Telecom) for 15 years ending in March 2013 and before that by Trafalgar House. Since the BT sponsorship ended the Melodians have been searching for another sponsor but so far without success.
The Melodians has been a registered charity since 1994 and relies on sponsorship, grants and paid engagements to maintain the orchestra which is free to its members. The cost to you is small but the benefit to the Melodians is immense. It enables us to plan ahead with confidence for community projects, take part in charity events, order new music commissions and arrangements and maintain our instruments. For example:
- £5000 a year enables us to maintain the instruments and pay for storage, rehearsal space and caretaker costs.
- In return for the sponsorship we are happy to play at 4 of your company events a year if you cover our transport and subsistence costs.
