Wedding thank you email

Many thanks to the father of the bride from the wedding in Southend on Sunday 11th September. He sent a wonderful email thanking Terry and the Melodians.

“Terry

I would just like to thank you , once again for yourself and your band playing at my daughters wedding.
You told me not to worry about the music selection and you were correct .
The music selection was excellent as were the arrangements .
Everyone, as well as the hotel staff, enjoyed the music and are still talking about it.
I would like to thank every member of your band for playing with such professionalism and joy.

We intend to come to your Christmas show and I hope to see you all then

Thanks

Alan Hughes”

Melodians Documentary and Promotional Video

To all our friends, you will be excited to know that we have updated the ‘Home’ page on the website with a short video ‘We Are The Melodians Steel Orchestra UK’ to introduce the Melodians to new visitors to the website.

We have also included a longer documentary about the Melodians on the About page to make it more interesting.  You will also find this documentary on the ‘Sponsor Us’ page as it includes an appeal for a new sponsor to help us continue our great work.

Heritage Day at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst

The Melodians visited the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst for their Heritage Day celebration on Sunday 19th June.  This is an annual event by the Academy to raise money for various charities.  The Melodians played down by the lake in the amazing grounds of the Academy.  This was the first public performance of their newest addition to the repertoire ‘Mr Sandman’.

Patron’s Lunch on the Mall

The Melodians played at the Patron’s Lunch on the Mall to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday.  It was a very busy day as all participants had to arrive at 7.45 am to get ready for the celebrations.  The Melodians were located at the Admiralty Arch end of the Mall near the stage where the speeches were given.

A couple of photos from the day:

QBP Thank you_The MelodiansWe were so pleased to receive a wonderful letter from HM Ambassador in Moscow – Laurie Bristow, thanking us for travelling to Moscow to help them celebrate HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday. Letters like this make all the hard work worthwhile.

Moscow thank you2

Patron’s Lunch tomorrow

HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebrations are in full flow this weekend.  Loads of street parties taking place and especially one on the Mall tomorrow – The Patron’s Lunch! http://www.thepatronslunch.com/event_info

BBC1 will be showing the event live between 1.15 and 4.15 pm.  The Melodians are due to play between 1.45 and 2.20 pm at Admiralty Arch so hopefully we will be on BBC1 tomorrow afternoon.

Melodians have a very busy June coming up

It’s looking like a very busy time for the Melodians in June.  See all their events on the RHS of each page.  On Tuesday 7th June they will be flying to Moscow to play at the Queen’s 90th Birthday Party at the British Ambassador’s Residence on 8th June.  They return on the Thursday 9th June in time to prepare for the Patron’s Lunch on The Mall.

The Patron’s Lunch (www.thepatronslunch.com) will be on Sunday 12th June and is an exciting opportunity for people to sit and eat lunch on the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace and celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday.  There will be a Carnival style procession down the Mall.  The Melodians will be playing on a stage at the Admiralty Arch end of the Mall (our instruments are just too heavy to carry and play).  The Queen will be there also to make a short speech for all those who attend.  It sounds like a fantastic occasion to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.

The following weekend the Melodians will be at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst to play for Heritage Day.  They will be playing 3 times during the day.  This should be another exciting and busy day.
