Annual Award Concert 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Melodians gathered at their base in Henry Cavendish School\u00a0on Saturday 12th December for their Annual Award Concert 2015.\u00a0 The hall was filled with family, friends and supporters for the free concert to celebrate a busy and eventful year and reward the magnificent effort of the Melodians players.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the concert was divided into 3 parts.\u00a0 The first two pieces played were performed by the school children from classes 6C and 6W who performed the classics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Somewhere Over the Rainbow<\/li>\n<li>Swing Low Sweet Chariot<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This was followed by the School choir\u00a0accompanied by the Melodians &#8211; a first for both groups &#8211; singing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mas Que Nada<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The rest of the concert was an exciting performance of 9 pieces by the Melodians, including some of their old favourites,\u00a0the new composition from the Clay Cargo project,\u00a03\u00a0other pieces\u00a0composed for the Melodians\u00a0plus their new addition to the repertoire, Hotel California.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Morning Dance<\/li>\n<li>Clay Cargo<\/li>\n<li>New Dawn (composed for the Melodians by Amy Daniel)<\/li>\n<li>Blue Skies<\/li>\n<li>Excerpts from Swan Lake<\/li>\n<li>Habenera<\/li>\n<li>Tropical Monsoon (composed for the Melodians by the late Mikey Andrews)<\/li>\n<li>Hotel California<\/li>\n<li>Colour Blind (composed for the Melodians by Robert Thompson)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A great addition to the evening was Cheynne singing &#8216;Blue Skies&#8217; accompanied by the Melodians.<\/p>\n<p>The encore was Bohemian Rhapsody which finished with a standing ovation from the audience.<\/p>\n<p>The Mayor was there to present the main\u00a0awards\u00a0and Terry also presented certificates to the young players from Henry Cavendish School who have been playing with the Melodians this
